About the Author
Alberto Müller, writer, journalist and author of the book Why Fidel abandoned Che and other works, has no qualms about admitting that he sleeps little, drinks to compromise and considers himself a liberal Christian, in the best sense of the word. That is why, after so much traveling through life, he prefers transformations in peace and understanding dialogues, rather than violent confrontations.
He was born in Cuba and confesses that he would like to die on his island.
He speaks openly and honestly about his favorite people: he is passionate about the pure love of Mother Teresa of Calcutta for the helpless; the social genius of Charles Chaplin; the picaresque appeal of Marilyn Monroe; the human ethics of Vaclal Havel; the music of John Lennon; and the theology of poverty of Pope Francis.
He states, with much gratitude, that his master in the art of investigative journalism is the Spaniard journalist Javier Cercas.
The imprint of 15 years of political imprisonment, of having suffered a mock execution and torture on his body – such as having been forced into a ditch of excrement and beaten —as well as dreaming of a world of freedom and social justice, have left this tireless writer with a tenderly watchful gaze.
Among his published books are Monólogo con Yolanda (a novel that falls within the category of magical realism), Retos del periodismo (an essay dedicated to his students of the subject Laws and Ethics of Journalism at the Koubek Center of the University of Miami), Todos heridos por el Norte y por el Sur (stories of social structure), USA: Tierra condenada (USA: Damned Land) and Tierra Metalizada (Metallized Land) (two intimate poetry collections), El proyecto Varela (The Varela Project) and Cuba entre dos extremos (Cuba between two extremes) (essays on the progress of his Cuban island), make up a work of impact and show the pressing narrative of the author.
